Any advice on first dental appointment?

My son has his first dental appointment tomorrow. He will be 2 years old next month. I am nervous about how he will act. He is really good about brushing his teeth but not sure about a stranger looking in his mouth. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Pediactric dentist doesn't always equal the "right" dentist.
Don't go to a dentist who won't allow you in the room with your child.
Don't go to a dentist that uses restraints.
Don't go to a dentist that has you sign a waver allowing them to "use a stern voice/language and/or physical restraint"
Don't assume your child has to be restrained or put under IV sedation for treatment -- go for 2nd opinions, 3rd opinions, 4th opinions.
Look for a dentist that uses WaterLase technology - no drills, no shots, no pain.
