  • wake up by 8 eat breakfast

should be ready for "school" around 9am

between 9am and 11am English and History curriculum is taught w/a break in between maybe 10 minutes at the most

    Break/Lunch from 11am-11:45am
between 11:45am and 1:45pm Math and Science Curriculum taught w/a break in between as well

then we are typically done but I give little fun activitie sheets for learning and they usually work on those for however long they want afterward

We give quizes if we expected them to read a book as "homework" to check comprehension.

I dont usually give much equivalent to hw unless theres a book that needs to be read because there's so much one on one time that there is no need.

    No one asked you.

  • PURPUL - do you just constantly search the boards for the homeschooling questions so you can tell everyone why we're so wrong for doing it? I scan different areas of CM and when I see a homeschooling question I check it out, but no matter what category it's in you've already posted your rude comments. Why not just skip over them if you hate HSing so much. Sheesh.

  • Our schedule

    When we stay at home:

    Breakfast at 7:30
He gets dressed (I get up and take my shower at 7) and morning chores at 8
Playtime for him until 9 (kitchen cleanup and school prep - getting all materials to the table - for me until 9)
    Usually English and Math first
Break about 10:30/10:45 which includes snack and some time for him to wind down a bit
Depending on how he's doing, he either watches and educational movie, or a fun movie in Spanish (scooby doo or something) or we do some history or science reading/experiments
Finish any work that needs to be finished
    Usually done by 1:30

If we go to the library:

    Breakfast at 7:30
Getting dressed (for him) and morning chores at 8
He can play until we leave about 9:20
We go to the gas station and run any errands and get to the library about 10am

  • Grrrrr. why on earth would u think it's a horrible thing for my kids? you've never met them. I am lucky enough that we're scraping by on 1 income and I consider it a sign from above to educate them myself. I personally find it creepy and weird that you can send your precious offspring away for a long tiresome day without you. I'd never want to hand my kid off to strangers for 40 hours a week,,, I'd consider it a punishment of some kind. But I'd never slam you for your situation/position. So don't go there, k?
