  • Well, I never got morning sickness, but I would say DEFINITELY NOT. That's just ridiculous. Nausea is AWFUL.......not controlled mentally.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! OMG...this is my 4th pregnancy and I have had more morning sickness lasting ALL DAY then I did with any of my other pregnancies! I've even been put on Zofran because the Phenagren wasnt working. So, no, morning sickness is DEFINATLY NOT mind over matter! Men think this because they dont understand how much change our bodies go through during pregnancys!!!

  • Huh! Well, I tried that reasoning during my pregnancies when I HAD to get up and go to work in the mornings, but for some reasoning my mind did not care about the matter....LOL.
I think if anyone close to me told me that then I would tell them the same when they came down with the flu or food poisoning or something.
I've been told to "buck it up and deal with it" during my first pregnancy. I bucked it up all right - with my fist in his gut!

  • Such a bloke thing to say!

If its mind over matter then i must have been an unconscious bulimic cos i was throwing up 6 times a day during my first trimester.

Sorry. but he doesn't have a clue.

  • No way. It's as real as diarrhea, and everyone knows diarrhea is not mind over matter.

  • Uh NO WAY!
It wouldn't have mattered how much I willed myself not to be sick when I was pregnant, I was sick!

  • The only people who can say that are the ones who never had it! Why would I want to pull over on the side of the road & throw up rice on my shoes?

Answer by Anonymous at 2:38 PM on Aug. 21, 2009

  • Lol, i wish it had just been mind over matter.

  • i've heard this ridiculous saying before, but if it were true, then it wouldn't have been the reason i took a pregnancy test w/my first 2. i had terrible nausea w/my first and threw up w/my second- my periods were irregular both times,so it wouldn't have even crossed my mind that i could be pregnant.

  • i got lucky & never had morning sickness...but even i know its not a mind over matter thing! any man who says anything related to how a woman feels during pregnancy & isnt a doctor can shove it! they dont know what they're talking about!!
