Nystatin?

Anyone know how well Nystatin (for thrush) tastes? I've tried Gentian Violet, it has to go right on the part of the tongue that makes it taste bad. My 2 yr old son hates it and ends up spitting the stuff all over (not good as it's basically like purple dye), so I'm thinking it's getting everywhere it's supposed to. So, I'm thinking of going another route. The NP gave me 3 choices, and I thought I'd start with the OTC drug first. So, I want to know if your kid liked it.

  • Nystatin doesn't taste bad, but I didn't think it worked, either. It was also messy and the doses were a lot for a newborn! Liquid Diflucan for the baby and Diflucan pills for me, and it went away.

  • Nystatin isn't awful but it's certainly better than Gentian Violet
