  • The 14 day rule is only a guesstimate, you could have ovulated 2 days ago, or you may not ovulate for another 3 or 4 days.

  • Remember the 14 days is backwards. you are supposed to ovulate 14 before your period not after. The day you start your period count backwards 14 days, and that is when you would have ovulated. On ovulation kits, can you use them daily? If not, you may want a basil thermometer. It measures your temp is 10th of degrees. The day you ovulate it goes up and stays up for 3 days. If it goes back down you are not pregnant. If it is still up on the 4th day, you are pregnant. The trick to this thermometer is that you have to take it the minute you wake up before you move.

  • According to my infertility doctor, and if you just good ovulation, all the websites I've seen, you ovulate (around) day 14 of your cycle, day 1 being the first day of menstrual bleeding. You don't have to count backward. Your idea works just because many women have a 28 day cycle, so it's 14 days in either direction, more or less.
