If you're children pray...

What is their favorite prayer to say?

My children's favorite is:

God made the sun, God made the sea
God made the fish and God made me.
So, thank you for the sun, thank you for the sea
Thank you for the fish and thank you for me!

*Complete with hand gestures of course!*

  • Who would I tell them to pray to? An invisible man? Sorry JMO.

  • What is the point of even posting that? The title says " If you're children pray" not " do your children pray?"

That is the type of thing that makes these things turn so negative, if it does not jive with your beliefs, move on - don't even read it, and really why reply?

  • I like that, I think I'll share that one with them. Right now they know grace and their bedtime prayer completely, I should start teaching them some others. They do like their bedtime prayer which is pretty standard I think "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Let angels watch me through the night and wake me with the morning light. Amen"

  • Another one they love is:

"Thank you for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the birds that sing.
    Thank you God, for everything!

  • My youngests' prayers usually go like this:

Lord (or Father God, Dear Father in Heaven), thank you for the things You have blessed us with. Thank you for our Mom and Dad, sisters and brothers. Lord, thank You for helping us to be good, please help us to stay in Your hands and out of the hands of the devil. Please... --- "insert requests for individuals who've come to their hearts"--. Save us all when You come. In Jesus name I do pray, Amen.

  • Those are beautiful, Sarah!

  • We just say prayers from our hearts - nothing memorized.

The poems are cute, and make good songs though.

  • Thank you Lexi! My favorites are the ones they say at random, just talking to God like a best friend, like " thank you God for making horses run fast, they are so pretty" while we are just driving down the road...I love the thoughts that come to them that they just want to share with God!

We made one up recently that the kids really like-

    "Dear God,
Thank you for the food in our bellies, the clothes on our backs, the roof over our heads and the love in our hearts, amen."

And of course any that have hand motions they just love!

  • My daughter is an atheist so she doesn't do any kinds of prayers. However, when I was a child my grandmother taught me a chant that I didn't think of at the time as a prayer, but now I think it is a great child's chant/prayer, we would say it together whenever we saw the full moon.

I see the Moon and the Moon sees me
I bless the Moon and the Moon blesses me
