What is the average costs for a baby per month the first year?

We are military so insurance isnt a added cost. I just want to see what to budget and how much our income needs to be.

  • i bought wipes enough for first year at one time lol got 25 packages for like 20 bucks great sale! and if you formula feed that is about 150 a month bottles are usually a one time fee and clothes i spend about 100 every 3 months box of 150 diapers last a month at 40 bucks so i say roughly 150-200 a month

  • $30 a month. We got clothes as gifts. The only thing we bought was Target brand diapers and wipes - though sometimes I did cloth diapers so wipes would be the only expense.

  • Yeah... I would say $75 - $80 a month... I only used Parents Choice Diapers and Wipes. Those cost me about $15 every 2-3 weeks. You can use cloth and save money. If you BF you will save on formula but if not you can get help from WIC and again Parents Choice has a great one.

They also have baby food, snacks and other stuff when they are ready for the harder to eat stuff... Parents Choice is the WalMart brand, but I think it's as good or better than "name brands"...

You will get tons of clothes as gifts and what you don't get you can get rather cheaply on EBay.

  • It would depend... Do you breastfeed (if u bf food is free for 6mo!!)
Do you use cloth diaper? walmart brand / fancy brand?
you can use wipes from a store or a wet wash cloth....
If you bf & use wet wash clothes that will cut your budget MAJORLY! I cannot speak personally about cloth diapers because I didnt use them, but we are considering it next time around. they have some really cool user friendly cloth diaper now days..
    Id say...60-80/mo for 6mo if u breastfeed/wet washcloth & find a cheap diaper/cloth diapers...
