what color to use to tone down....

i put a bright mint green color that i don't really like but was thinking that maybe i could tone it down by putting strips down the wall. my question is to tone it down do i use a lighter green color or a darker muted green to tone it down?

i'm so scared of messing with greens again cause they are so tricky to work it.

the top section of wall would be two tones of green and the bottom portion is a muted pink then was adding a chair rail between the colors as a border.

  • just repaint it. i'm sorry but i dont like mint green either. i saw a room the way you described on hgtv and they had the same muted pink w/chair rail and the top they used pink also but one of the pinks was darker and the stripe was a satin looking lighter pink, it was gorgeous.

  • Use a lighter green maybe a celery shade... the paint guys may be able to help you at the store, find a shade that will compliment the existing color. Anything darker will make that bright green stick out more.
