  • The recommended age to begin feeding babies anything other than milk/formula is 4-6 moths. I wanted to give it to her anyway (which now seems odd) but the doctor explained that they can not get nutrients from it before 6 months and it will make them too full to drink milk. So, before 4-6 months it could actually make your baby nutrient deprived and very sick.

  • I started at 4 months. Check with your Baby's pediatrician before you do. Your Baby should have doubled birth weight prior to starting solids. There are other guidelines too.

  • We skipped it. It's not nutritious at all. My youngest was on breastmilk only until 7.5 months. Then she had some avocado and banana. We skipped purees as well, and went straight to finger foods.

The minimum recommendation has been changed to 6 months for any solids. The intestinal walls have open spaces to allow antibodies from the mother's milk to pass through easily. These spaces also allow large allergens to pass. The walls naturally close somewhere between 4 and 6 months, but there's no way to tell when that has happened - hence the 6 month mark.

  • 8 wks.... for reflux as ordered by the DR. they are a lil over 3 month now and not spitting up as much so we have cut back the cereal. At 4 months we will start cereal in a bowl instead of their bottles (as DR has told us to do) around 5 mo we will start veggies (with pedis permission)

my twins had more than doubled their birth weight at 2 months and the DR said to only put a lil in the bottles. after they see her again we will add more to their diets, OH and she put them on a multi vitamin since they are already on solids.
