Did you use any medicine for baby when they were feverish from teething? Or just wait/comfort it out?

  • Only if they were super cranky and obviously feeling pain... the ped always told me a fever is good, it means your body is doing what it should...only medicate when they are obvioulsy in discomfort. There are times my kids have fevers and you'd never know it by their mood, I don't give them anything at those times, I let their bodies fight it off naturally...but if they are miserable, I'll give them some ibuprophen.

  • Depends on age but I used tylenol when she was less than 6 months and motrin is all I use now. I would always give it if my dd relaxed and became more comfortable then I knew it was pain. If she was still cranky then I knew meds wouldn't help so I wouldn't give her anymore. Besides a little tylenol/motrin won't hurt.

  • As far as medicine, I only ever used baby orajel and that only after he was six months old. There can be problems with the gut closing correctly if medicine or food is given before six months and my side of the family has a significant history of gut issues so we were really careful about that. I had him nurse lots when his mouth was hurting and as he got older, I'd give him cold things to chew on.
