I alaways thought that all baby's start crawling around the same time

The reason i am asking is cause i have a friend with a 6 month old and he is already crawling but my youngest is 8 months old and is not crawling yet just rolling over and getting into the crawling position. Is that normal.

  • Your baby is normal. Every baby hits their milestones at different times. These age "guidelines" are ridiculous. My oldest walked at 9 months, my middle daughter at 10 months, and my youngest is 13 months and JUST started to walk full time. Took her first steps after a year old. They all also sat up, and crawled at different times.

  • every baby is different. just b/c your precious one hasn't started crawling yet, doesn't mean baby is not normal. babies will reach milestones at different times.

  • No not all babies reach their milestones at around the same time. I have 4 kids and all of them were completely different.

  • my oldest is 3.5 she walked at 10 months, crawled at 7 months, rolled over at 2 months...and my son is 3 months old still isn't rolling over or even spending more than 5 mins at a time on his tummy. every baby is different, he's getting into position so it will be soon enough.

  • My baby was 8 months when she started crawling. a 5 days away from 10 months, she's a crawling machine. You're baby is fine.

  • Babies are not robots that are set to a certain setting ... They are individuals therefor do everything at their own pace. Some babies crawl early, some later and some never crawl at all and go straight to walking. The 'guidelines' are only there to kinda guide you along..

  • my older son never crawled.... he started walking at 12 months (on his birthday lol), but he never crawled. don't worry.... it doesn't mean anything at all

  • Babies hit their milestones (holding head, sitting, crawling, pulling up, walking) at different times. Some babies skip certain milestones, like crawling. It is more related to personality, than anything!

  • Your baby is very normal.. i worked at a daycare with the infants from 6weeks to a year old.. some started crawling at 4-5 months and some not until after they were a year old... i hope that information helps to ease your mind.. :) my son started to crawl (military crawl-pull with arms across the floor ) at four months and a regular crawl at 5 months

  • DD crawled at 9 and a half mos, and DS crawled at 11 mos. DD began walking within 3 weeks after she started crawling, and DS was about 14 mos when he started walking.
