5 months pregnant and still no movement?

I'm a plus sized girl and 5 1/2 months pregnant. Is it normal for a bigger woman to not feel the baby kick yet? It kinda makes me nervous. However I've heard that women my size take longer to feel the baby.

  • If you are overweight it may take longer. But if this is your first baby, it may take a while too. I didn't feel movement with my son until about 22-23 weeks. It was weird because I could see him move on the ultrasound but I couldn't feel him yet lol. Everything is probably fine! You'll feel the baby! :-D

  • my Dr told me that most first timers don't feel their baby until 18-22wks....

and your size may play a role too....I'm not sure though...maybe other plus women could help you with that Momma...but I wouldn't be too worried yet.

  • I have heard that plus-sized women do have a harder time feeling their babies move. I know the average time to feel your baby move is anywhere from 18-25 weeks so if you are past that range than I would be concerned.

  • I am overweight! I honestly don't remember when I felt my first. I will say this, don't worry about it if the doctor isn't concerned. My second born was so still. Even at nine months I would lay in bed at night trying to get him to move. I would go hours most days before I felt anything. Now he is the one who defines hyper!!!!
