How long does "cruising" last before baby starts to walk for real?

My baby just turned 1. He started crawling around 10 months, pulling up and cruising about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Is there a usual amount of time for these things? How long before he walks?

Our 1 yr doctor apointment is tomorrow but they never give me a straight answer. They always say something like if he isn't walking by 16 months....... whatever, I want to know how long cruising lasts before he will learn to walk alone.

  • My son started crawling at 11 months and then started pulling himself up and holding onto/walking around furniture around 13 months. He is 16 months and just started taking a couple steps away from the cough at one time.

  • My oldest starting pulling up on things around 8 months. Around 10 months he took his first unassisted step. He wasn't walking fully by himself until 13 months. My second, on the other hand, pulled up around 7 months, took his first step at 9 months and 3 weeks later, pretty much at exactly 10 months was walking by himself. I think he just wanted to keep up with his older brother.

  • My dd is 10 months old, and has not started crawling yet, she said mumma, and dadda, and bad bad, and sometimes she says hey, and "E" (my son Ethan). She is using her arms to scoot on her butt (in a sitting position) on the floor, like a dog with worms, LOL... Everytime I give her tummy time, she gets terribly mad.
