How many times a day should a person

have a bowel movement? I have been eating more fiber and having a BM 3 to 4 times a day. Is this normal?

  • Yes that's normal. People should poop about the same as every meal they eat. 1-3 times a day sounds perfectly normal to me.

  • Sure. As long as you aren't feeling any pain from it I think it's normal.

  • Fiber will increase BMs. I would personally cut back on the fiber just a little bit.

Nature's own double fiber bread made into a sandwich for lunch (10 grams of fiber for two slices, 100 calories total), Kashi cereal for breakfast, 14 grams of fiber, and fruit. Plus, I have been drinking water. I try to get 30 grams fiber a day. However, all the fiber is having this side effect.
