Is it really eloping anymore?

If you plan on taking off to get married, and you plan to do it (plane tickets, budget to travel to said place) and all of your family knows about it...they just won't be it really still called eloping? Or just a planned ceremony without family present?

  • I would say no. Elopement was originally running away secretly to marry without parental consent. I don't think announcing to everyone "we're going on a trip to ______ and we're going to get married while we're there" bears any resemblance to the traditional sense of elopement.
