  • Baby carrots with ranch dip, grapes, small pretzel sticks with melted chocolate chips, graham crackers and apple slices with low-fat caramel dip all come to mind. Low-fat tortilla chips and salsa also.

  • any type of fresh fruit or fresh veggie
Too much dairy will cause constipation

Also you can make a trail mix by having a gallon size ziplock filled with a variety of things like
peanuts, raisins, mini pretzels, cereal of any kind, dried fruit, goldfish crackers, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds, out of the shell. Just pick 5, in an combination, that sounds like they would taste good together. You have munchies!

  • THere is no such thing as a "good unlimited" snack! No kid should have any access to UNLIMITED snacks....healty or junk. That's just nuts!

2-3 snacks a day is plenty along with 3 meals per day.

  • There really isn't anything you should give unlimited amounts of, but you can give large portions of fresh fruits and veggies, pretzels, unsweetened cereals, whole wheat crackers, nuts (high fat content, but great source of proteins), raisins, dried fruits. Those are all the sorts of things the kids can have without asking for them first in my house. Cookies, cake, candies, sweetened cereal, granola type snack bars are all things they have to ask for first.

  • My kids know that if they are hungry and it's not meal time, they can choose a healthy snack - yogurt or fresh fruit (seasonal - right now i keep strawberries and cantaloupe, cut up) are their regular choices.

  • I try to keep a variety of foods on hand for the kids to snack on. I don't let them eat all day cause then they won't be hungry at meals. I do allow 1snack between lunch and supper. I ususally keep applesauce cups, fruit, yoghurt, granola bars, cottage cheese, carrots and celery, sometimes jello cups.

  • my kids can have fruit and veggies pretty much anytime they want them. I also keep whole grain crackers, dried fruit and fruit pops that are pretty much anytime snacks. I do say no snacks an hour before dinner.
