What can I give my seven months baby for costipation?

My baby eat 4-6 teaspoon of ceral and two litttle jars of vegetable or fruit and 4 - 5 breastfeed each day. But since she started to eat solid food she has had costipation.

  • has it been over 3-5 days w/o a bowel movement? or straining to poop and hard rabbit pellets for a bowel movement? if not it is not constipation and she will go eventually if longer then a week then id be concerned

  • try any of the p fruit juices like pear

  • Include pitted fruits in baby's diet. Also make sure to stay away from binders & Karo syrup (which can be deadly for infants).

  • they have baby prunes too. my daughter did this when starting to eat foods and i gave her a half of a stage one prune and she pooped to her shoulder blades....it was one heck of a disaster but she felt better!! good luck!

  • First, I'd eliminate the cereal. And I'd nurse a little more often if possible. If that didn't work, I'd ask the doc.
