  • Well it's usually genetic from the mom. You can't just eat or drink something to help you conceive twins.

  • Without medical intervention, it's all chance. Either a fertilized egg splits, resulting in identical twins. or mom's ovary releases two eggs at once which both get fertilized, resulting in fraternal twins.

  • Genetics example my husband side of the family twins skip every other generation, and the same for mine, but if I'm having twins he's going to be missing some twins if you know what i mean. everyone that i know that has twins they run in the family. I'm sure there are some weird positions that books and everything tell you about but that's the only logical answer i know.

  • I have always heard that the faternal twin gene comes from the mothers paternal side (so basically, like your dad's siblings) but there is no gene for identical twins.

Identical twins occur when a fertilized egg splits after conception and faternal twins occur when the mother's ovaries release 2 eggs that both get fertilized

  • i agree that there is nothing you can do and what the pp said.

    THIS

Identical twins occur when a fertilized egg splits after conception and fraternal twins occur when the mother's ovaries release 2 eggs that both get fertilized

it doesn't HAVE to have happened in your family before. it's just that if someone in your family did have fraternal twins, that means that you too might release 2 eggs and have twins.
