Did you realize?

that the Democrat's plan to pay for the Health Care reform they are pushing they plan to start taxing you 2010 for the benefits, yet you won't get anything for your money until 2013! I wasn't sure how they were planning on paying for it until I went to my town hall meeting last night and I am flabergasted! So, for those that are low income and are waiting for reform to provide their families with medical coverage, you are just SOL. You will be paying extra taxes and while you are trying to make ends meet, you have to hope and pray that you don't get sick or hurt because there will be nothing left to pay a Dr. with. Unless of course you can wait until 2013 for your exam.

And for those of you that are depending on the top wage earners, how long do you think they will be willing to carry your load?

A

  • reversed the Bush tax cuts which was a campaign PROMISE, and that would free up some revenue.

....and cost plenty of jobs, but that's just collateral.

  • This is a good thingin my opinion, let the ones who thought they were getting a handout and a bunch of free shit for nothing sit and wait the longest. Being SOL imo is a good place for them to be. If you didn't pay any taxes, or anything into the new and upcoming healthcare system, your butt can go to the back of the line and let the ones who paid the most tax get treated first.
Why would anyone think, that it would NOT work this way? Does anyone here really believe politicians and wealthy people are going to wait in line like everyonese? The lessers of society who voted for all of this will be the ones remaining on the bottom due to their own ignorance, and I say that's where they need to be. Waiting in line.

  • The point is that they already can't afford it. They can't afford to pay for anything (so they say). Have the Democrats told their supporters about how this will work? I just learned this last night from my Republican congressman. Every time the question is asked in this forum alone, there are NO ANSWERS as to how we will pay for it. Here you have it! We will have our taxes hiked and get nothing in return until 4 years down the road. Do those that support this effort really understand that they will be paying into a system that is not yet working for them in return?

  • So, if those that can't afford health care are paying extra taxes into a system that is not operational and they happen to get sick within the next 4 years, they have to pay for their medical treatment in ADDITION to the extra taxes.

Also, the government gets to choose who and which plans will qualify to 'compete' with the public option. So they get to make the rules, set the prices and then so generously call it 'competition'. And those of you that support this eat it up with a spoon because you are told to be good little followers and reject any ideas the Republicans have. Wouldn't it make more sense to review ALL initiatives that are being introduced to see if there is something that might work better? Or are you so color blind that the only color you see is blue?

  • How did you come to this conclusion? "start taxing you 2010 for the benefits, yet you won't get anything for your money until 2013!"

Because how the plan will be paid for hasnt yet to be completely determined, and doesn't involve taxes, and Y1= Year one (2013) refers NOT to the day that Universal health care aka a public option will become available, but the year all health care plans in the exchange, must meet minimum plan standards

    So your information is false.

  • They can't afford this. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are in trouble. They will not or cannot fund them properly but they don't. When we had a surplus under Clinton we really didn't have one Social Security was filled with IOU's. Taxes will have to go up and the rich cannot be the ones that pay for this. The reason tax revenues are lower is the wealthy have lost billions the past year. There is less to tax. My bil made 700k a year he is unemployed now. He is living just fine he put money away but he is not bringing in new income that can be taxed. The only taxes he will pay will be on what he earns in his investments and that is not much right now. There are many like him out there. We could take every penny the wealthy earn this year and still not pay for this plan. What is considered rich will be lowered and many middle income will be paying for this.

  • Sriver, it was a town hall held by my Congressman, which he gave us information on what the congress passed. He doesn't know what the Senate is doing with it now (says they are talking about co-ops that sound like a wolf in sheep's clothing).

So, if you are up to date on all of the information, HOW WILL THEY PAY FOR IT? If they aren't going to raise taxes, who's hat will they pull this magical amount of money from? And if you think that employers won't drop insurance coverage for their employees to take the 'penalty' then you are kidding yourself. Just another form of corporate welfare (it will give them a boost in their earnings since they pay more for employee health coverage than the penalty will end up costing them). I thought Dems were all against corporate welfare?
