It's early morning when I hear a sound,
I arouse from my sleep and look around.
A flash of light with a distant rumble,
I arose to my feet with a stumble.
Wipe the sleep from my tired eyes,
A sound of rain drops were to my surprise.
I pour some coffee into my cup,
Go to the front porch and sup.
Southern summers are odd indeed,
But this rain is just what we need.
So peaceful and serene,
Now the air smells so clean.
A gental rain, nothing more,
As my attention is brought to the door.
A little voice with sleepy eyes,
Come to see this Godly surprise.
Come sit and watch with me,
The rain drops falling through the tree.
Her little hands hold on to mine,
When in the distance I see the sunshine.
The rain starts to go away,
Replaced by the sun's embrace.
Mommy it's beautiful do you see?
A colorful rainbow just for me.
Yes I do
