  • My oldest was 6. My son learned earlier this year at 7 1/2. My middle daughter is almost 7 and can't tie her shoes but has no real reason to learn (her shoes are mostly velcro).

  • My daughter taught herself when she was four.
    It is part of the kindergarten curriculum at her elementary school; they have a ceremonial shoe tying, in front of the whole school, as part of the 100th day of school celebration. It is the cutest thing imaginable.
