Potty training my son and we are having a hard time with number 2

we have been potty training our son for a few days and for that he is doing pretty good with number one but when it comes to number two he hasn't gone even once(while he is wearing underwear) and he usually goes once during the day we let him sit on the toilette for a few minutes til we see he is getting frustrated and just let him off but when it is time for bed time we put a diaper on him and he goes number 2 so i'm worried that he is holding it all day.....what can i do to help him with this?
(he just turned 3 if that helps)

  • recipe for poop:

take son to video store to pick out video(s) of his choice

put towel on floor, potty chair on towel, and son on potty.

    put movie in, press play.

Hand son a snack (popcorn? doesn't matter)

and a glass of prune juice (not much! maybe 4oz) diluted with water and apple juice

turn lights low and create movie theater ambiance

    voila, instant poopies

  • if he's like my kiddos, he's overly stressed about accidents and potty training in general.

a distraction (and a little prune juice) will make things happen and eventually get him familiar with the feelings, sensations, etc that go along with it... then comes muscle control, then comes independent pooping

  • also consider poop parties. and taking a picture of his smiling face next to the toilet. and having everyone home at the time draw a picture of poop. and melting tootsie rolls in microwave for 12-15 seconds and eating poop. celebrate poop, get him excited. and GET RID OF THE DIAPERS! ;)
