  • Really false! I don't think there's really a correlation unless you know the baby's so chunky it can't move...which I don't think happens...

  • I think false. My son was a CHUNK and army crawled at 6 mo, real crawl at 7mo, and walked at 10 mo... and for the most part I think he was on time or earlier than many kids his age.

  • False-- I think it has more to do with genetics, coordination, and baby-wearing.
Babies who are carried more are believed to gain coordination more quickly.

My chunky & skinny (one of each) APed babies walked by 10 months~ but walking "earlier" seems to run in the family, too.

  • My friends 8 month old baby is 3 weeks older than mine, he's in 12 mo size and mines in 6. Mine can cruise and stand for what seems like hours, I think he's pretty close to walking. Her's can crawl, mine can't at all. Mine sat up at 5 months hers still cant. Mine will barely eat any solid foods (stage 1) hers is on puffs and even pancakes! Its totally different for everyone. Her's spent alot of time playing by himself, where I always had mine with me. It just depends on each situation I think.

  • False. According to our pediatrician, heavier babies tend to do things early because it takes more muscle just for them to move their limbs, so they're stronger to begin with.

Baby wearing actually slows things down because they don't have the time on the floor that other babies have.

My chunky monkies all rolled both ways before 3 months, sat unassisted by 4 months, one crawled at 6 months, cruised furniture at 7 months and all out walked by 10 months.

Oh, but mine were tummy sleepers, too.
