when did you start your child on a sippy cup? What did you put in it? How often did you give it to your child?

  • Started DD when she was 7 months, gave her only water, about three times a day. When she was 12 months I took her bottle, and have her only her cup and basically gave it to her all day. She would have juice (1/2 juice 1/2 water) or milk with meals, and would have water the rest of the day. That is still what we do at 15 months.

  • We started at 5 months with water, gave it to him like one a day just to introduce it. Now at 9 months he gets water with each meal and his formula is in a sippy if we're out or have friends over (other than that, I'm stil bfeeding).

  • My son started a sippy cup at 4 1/2 months old with watered down juice .. by 6 months old he was a pro and was drinking both juice and formula out of the sippy. By 10 1/2 months the bottle was gone and we were just using sippy cups for everything.
