I think she's crazy!

okay my m.i.l asked me if I have heard my babies cry yet. (im 38wks pregnant with my first) she said that when she was pregnant with her first she had heard the baby cry b4 he was born.
I want to know, can this really happen?

  • Babies don't cry in the womb. Crying involves the exchange of air (breathing in air and expelling it with the cry) and babies don't breath air in the womb. The baby is in amniotic fluid. There is no air in the baby's lungs, so he or she cannot expell the air to cry.

    Although Dr's have seen babies making a crying MOTION in the womb...but no sound.

  • It might be possible (i doubt it) I never experieced that, but she could be crazy! I've thought I heard my baby crying and I go check on her and she's asleep, that's happened.

  • i have heard of rare cases where it idoes happen, idk how they could be heard over the water in the womb but there are documentated cases of it. your mil is a rarity but not necessarily nuts.

  • They do think babies do cry in the womb, but it is silently so she was hearing things

  • I know that the baby does cry in the womb, not because they're mad or need anything, but just for practice. It doesn't make any noise though, lol! Have you ever tried talking under water? It doesn't work, lol.
