Are secessionists un-American?

There was a rally in Texas where about 200 poeple showed up to cheer on seceeding. One of teh speakers said they were going to rip down the American flag that was on the building, to cheers.

Then another (a woman) talked of a bloody battle ahead

If you ripped down an American flag in front of me, there will be an issue.

  • What is wrong with those people? They sound like they are a few french fries short of a Happy Meal. Nuts. They ARE un-American.

  • Well, I am not fond of the word un-American, since it is impossible to define. However, if people want to separate themselves from the federal government and talk about using a bloody bayyle to do it, I call that treasonous.

  • Talk of tearing down the American flag is what got to me. If you hate the administration, which you have every right to do, why not stay with your country and work to make it better instead of ripping down a flag and starting a bloody battle? I have family members that died to serve that flag

  • What part about defacing a flying American flag reflects and supports a love of America?

Acting like a fool either alone or in a group does nothing to advance your pov-at least with a rational, thinking individual.

  • Secession in itself isn't Un-American. You have to look at why they would want to seceed. If a state wants to seceed so that it can return to the truest form of the Constiution then that would certainly NOT be Un-American.

Our Founding Fathers anticipated the need of the people to be able to overthrow a tyrannical government.

We are currently facing some of the same things as our Founding Fathers. Getting back to the basics of the Constitution wans what it allows of the federal government is not treason.

You don't have to spill blood to have a revolution you know.

  • No, they are not un-American, in fact, they are generally more truly American than the rest of the population. Seccessionists are generally people that believe in the Constitution and the Republic that the founding fathers gave to us. They are disgusted with the direction this country has gone over the years and want freed from it's unconstitutional ways.

  • This is not going to happen anytime soon, ladies.
