My twins just got their 6 month shots yesterday and now have a 100.4 temp. Is that normal? What do i do?

Should i call the ped or is that just normal for after shots? I already gave them baby tylenol and they are only wearing a shirt and diaper right now. Anything else i can do/??

  • yes, take them in. that is pretty high and you have double thwe worries with two babies with high temps.

keep them warm though, when you get a fever you get cold and shivery and want to keep warm.cover them in a light blanket

  • Call her doctor immediatly! They will have the best advice on what to do, plus you don't want to risk something happening to your baby.

  • it wont hurt to call the doctor. the worst they can say is that they don't think its necessary to see them. you don't want anything to your little ones do you?

  • 100.4 is not a high fever. In fact, unless you check their temperature multiple times throughout a day, you probably don't even know if it's abnormal. Body temperatures fluctuate throughout 24 hours, with some times being quite a bit lower than 98.6 that is sold as 'normal'...

This chart describes the measurements and variations:

As he says, 98.6F is a 'factoid' taken as a fact by a great many people, but without any real proof, and when examined, is contradicted by many factors.

  • i called my pediatrician and they sent me to the voicemail of the triage nurse. They said she was on the other line. That was 20 minutes ago. Damn i hate waiting! Has anyone ever had a child with 100.4 temp? What did you do?

  • It's a normal reaction if you are actually seeing a reaction at all. I would get nervous if they start to act really lethargic.

  • Uhm 100.4 is not a high fever at all, its a normal reaction to vaccinations. I don't even give Tylenol for that.
