Husband's last name?

Did anyone else not want to take their husbands last name? I don't want to take my fiance's last name because me and our daughter wont have the same name if I do. I refuse to change her last name especially not to his last name because then her name will rhyme. Sopheeah Via just doesn't sound right.

Has anyone else kept their last name?

  • I took my dh last name and wish I hadn't. It's been 6 years and I still can't get used to it.

  • I took my husband's last name but some people do not want to do that. My husband's brother's wife didn't take his last name. She kept her maiden name and when they had children they named a regular first name and gave them a hyphenated last name which consisted of her maiden name - his last name. You may want to consider something like that. Or if you don't feel comfortable with any of it you can keep your own last name. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

  • No. We were only 18 when we married, way before we had kids. Also, I had a horrible maiden name and was very happy to get rid of it!

  • I'm very attached to my last name. I have 4 brothers, we all share it and they are my everything. I know that giving up my last name doesn't erase the memories. Its just very hard for me to give it up. Its something that people without a troubled past wouldn't understand.
