How advanced should a 2 1/2 yr olds vocabulary be?

should they be saying complete sentences, know the entire alpahabet, sing complete songs, etc.

  • Every child is different, they all learn things at their own pace. I believe a child who walks sooner talks later and vice versa. Also depends on how they are spoken to, if they have an older sibling that speaks for them, if they prefer using baby signs....there are so many different things that attribute to each child and how they develop.

  • All children develop differently. You may want to pick up a book on child development at the library; anything by Penelope Leach or T. Berry Brazelton will be great. Dr. Brazelton has a great website: www.touchpoints.org
