What are these things on our bodies? Little gross sorry....

I occasionally get these huge itchy bumps that get really swollen and hard, they turn red then pus comes out eventually. I have been to a doctor for it several times over the years, they tried a shot of antibiotics, that didn't work. After the pus drains they go away. My husband gets them here and there and my small children have had them too. I wish I knew what they were so I could stop it. Sorry anon because I'm embarrassed.

  • Sounds like a boil but I have never really seen one. Sorry to hear you and your family get them...are they hereditary?

  • maybe ingrown hair...or a bite if it's itchy first- sounds like it gets the infection out & then goes away. be careful not to scratch, you dont wanta get a staff infection or mersa

  • The doctor compared them to a cyst, not a boil, and not an open soar like herpes. I do not have herpes. It feels like a bugbite. My kids don't get them as much as I do, maybe twice a year and it's usually only one cyst at a time there isn't more than one. It's not all over the body.
