  • it all depends on the baby. he wont over eat so as long as he isnt throwing up any formula after a feeding and is gaining weight good then I would give him what he wants:)

  • Hmm my son was on breastmilk till he was about 4 weeks old. But when we bottle fed him breast milk he took about 4-6 oz at a time. He took the same amount of formula when we switched him

  • Babies will act hungry if their tummies hurt. 8 oz in 3 hrs is too much. My seven month old gets 4 oz every four hours when she is not nursing.

  • You know....I was all set here and then you had to go and say an anon gave a "bitchy" response. All that anon said was "they know when they are full" in, give the baby what it wants, when it wants....feed on demand..don't worry about counting ounces.

8oz in 3 hours is NOT too much if the baby is taking it and not spitting it back up.

Mine took 8oz every 2 hours at 6 weeks.

  • Both mine were switched to formula at less than 3 months old and both ate every 2 hours 7- 8 oz each time. Some babies are big eaters. I agree with pp's that as long as your baby is not spitting up/vomiting a load of formula after feeding, then go ahead and give more. :)
