Baby name: Joplin

Whether I have a boy or a girl, I am going with the name Joplin. I like uncommon names and it's quite fitting in my family to use something with such musicial strength and background.
Is Joplin too feminine for a boy, in your opinion?

  • Kinda girly to me. If you were calling that name and a boy came running up to you. I would think, "poor boy has a F**cked up name".

  • I like it! I would be more likely to name a girl that and change the spelling a little...Joplyn...maybe. Anyway, it is a cute name!

  • Love it! I think I would shorten it to Joe for a boy though.?.

  • Personally, for my own children, I don't like names that give me a strong connection to someone else with that name (like Janis & Scott do). So I wouldn't use it, personally.
BUT I do like how it's less common as a boy OR girl's name and would think it to be a cool choice.

And I have been known to play a lot of Janis Joplin in my time, hehe.

  • I like it, and I also like the spelling another mom said...Joplyn. But I do think it'd be better for a girl. JMO....

  • Janice is my FAVORITE, but I wouldn't name a kid after her. Morrison and Lennon have topped my lists though!
