How can going to Iraq be a mistake when we got rid of its dictator?

A man responsible for killing thousands of innocent people in his OWN country. I think we did a good thing going into Iraq. Granted, it was for the wrong reasons but Saddam is dead. So how did we fail? Isn't our motto "Justice for all". Is that just for us or FOR ALL?

  • I don't know where ANON 2:30 gets her numbers, but most of the people killed in Iraq were killed by insurgents, not the US military. And OP, I agree--I don't care what UN reports say there were no WMDs in Iraq, the man killed over 300,000 of his own countrymen. If that's not mass destruction, I don't know what is.

  • Better off with him? You wouldn't be sayin that if it were your children he was using to find land mines in the fields.

  • Actually the number is more like a million.

The biggest issue is that it isn't our business to overthrow other peoples governments.

Right now we have a government that is steadily becoming controlled completely by corporate interest. How would you feel if another country came in and occupied us in the name of saving us?

  • You wanna know what he would do with those kids? He'd give them little plastic keys and said if they took it with them to that they'd get in to heaven. Do you know how many of those plastic keys my husband found? Too many.

  • they were better off with him he did horrible things yes but that doesnt change the fact that his people loved him, and they were safe from insurgents and other people who wanted to kill them because of their beliefs. he did horrible things i never said he didnt, but they were better off with him. the only reason we went there and killed innocent people there was so bush could finish what his father couldnt finish. thats it. we had no right to go into that country.

You also wouldnt say that if it was YOUR 10 yr old daughter being raped by his brutal sons and many other autrocities they committed on the people.
