How many past Presidents have talked about the importance of education? Have any of them ever spoken directly to the kids about it, or did they all talk to the parents and educators? Is it right or wrong for Obama to take this message directly to the children during school time?

This is not about if your children will or will not attend school Tuesday. This is about comparing the past and present

  • Mixing in here also is the creepy Hollywood "public service" ad which has started playing in the last days before the speech.

And asking that a speech be PREviewed before children see it is - in no way - making Obama "fail". Sheesh.

Since I am a parent, and I have reservations, why can that NOT be respected??!
Why MUST Obama's speech be seen during the school day? I expect it was a nice, innocuous idea, but why not shift a little and offer more choice?
What would be wrong with letting children view this speech at HOME, with their PARENTS ?!

If there's an objection to that, then what is it? ... The children might not then get a chance to see it? ... and that would be bad because ... ... ?

  • Many Presidents did the same thing. Laura Bush visited schools every week, with the message to stay in school .
President Bush senior did take the message about drugs to the school kids.

  • Okay he talked to the students. Did everyone make a big deal about him doing it? Probably not because HE'S WHITE. But Obama wants to talk to the students and everyone has a problem with it? Thats stupid and everyone knows that they have a problem with it because he's BLACK.

I think that everyone needs to get over it.

See that is what I found odd you can NOT find a rough draft of the speech or anything. Hell I havent even seen a statement from Obama himself saying what the speech is about.
