How much do you pay for prenatal vitamins?

My prescription for "prenatal plus" tablets is a pharmacy price of 13.49

My insurance covers it so its free to me. I never really priced them OTC.

What do you pay for prenatals?

  • I don't take prenatals. Very very constipating and nauseating. I spent my money on supplements that I needed in my diet. While more expensive, they last quite a long time, are far more efficient, and don't cause intesntinal troubles. I bought folic acid, zinc prior to conception and still have plenty left to finish pregnancy. Second trimester I bought liquid chlorophyll for its iron/blood boosting properties, that was about $11 and I'm just about out, but I'm also at the end of pregnancy. And I also bought some alfalfa tablet the beginning of the third trimester for its Vitamin K boost. Just recently I bough a liquid calcium citrate supplement because I wasn't getting enough calcium in the third trimester.

    All in all, I spent $60 - $70 pre-pregnancy and pregnancy combined.

  • Ha, yeah my boyfriend looked at my pills and commented that they were huge.

I was a pill popper in high school though so it doesnt matter how big they are.

  • That's a smart plan- definitely better than a generic prenatal- I know there are things I get enough of in my diet and others that I don't!
