what takes cooking oil out of carpet?

my son decided to pour cooking oil all over the carpet. any advice?

  • lay a towel over spill and use a warm iron to draw the oil up into the towel. then you'll need to get a carpet cleaning detergent to get the residue out. we use bissel and have a little green machine carpet cleaner. it works for us.

  • Dawn dish-washing soap, It takes grease out of your way. LOL!

  • Once when my daughter spilled baby oil, we used a baking soda to absorb it then a shop vac to suck it up. Cooking oil is thicker so I don't know if it would work for that.
