What do you think of the name...

Starr? I was thinking Haylee for this child but heard the name Starr and it's kinda growing on me. Opinions?

  • It's Ringo's last name. Well, his stage name.

I'm not a fan of 'noun' names... or ambiguous names... or names that are intentionally difficult to spell. Life is hard enough for children, without having to spell their name to every person they meet, and get picked on about being named after stuff in their vicinity. Being called a boy, when you're a girl, or a girl when you're a boy, is just nasty to have to live through.

I've known more than 10 people who grew up with original, unique or literary names whose first act as an adult was to change their names to Robert or Sue, just to stop having to spell, explain or live through the jokes they've heard a million times already.

  • It is not one of my personal favorites for a first name, I do like Haylee though.
My hubs grew up with someone named Starrette, and I have heard the name Starla-- I do like Starla.
