I dug up potatoes a month ago and I haven't washed the garden soil off them yet

that shouldn't hurt any should it? I just have been too busy too get them scrubbed up and into storage. So they sit in the dried on soil I dug them from.

  • Actually, what you did is PERFECT! I live in Idaho. When we go to some of the local storage places to buy potatoes we prefer it if they give us the potatoes unwashed, fresh from the ground. The dirt keeps them from sprouting and they keep better with the dirt on them!

    You're A-OK!

  • I think it's fine.

  • I never wash my potatoes from the garden. I always store them still dirty because when you wash them, you take a chance on damaging the skins, which could allow insects to get into them & could cause them to rot. Plus, they seem to keep better & not sprout as fast when they're stored in their dirt.
