40 weeks and cramping...

I am 40 weeks and have had mild small cramps all day. They are not severe or anything just a little tightness and they are uncomfortable. Are these contractions? This is the first time I have had anything like this and at the doctor last week I wasn't dilated or anything...

  • Yes, those sound like early labor contractions. I had the same thing with my son & wasn't sure if it was contractions or not. They mostly just felt like menstrual cramps and were annoying. I was perfectly capable of doing normal stuff. The next day my water broke and active labor started.

  • Sounds like labor to me. You can time them if you want.
Labor doesn't normally progress until they come at regular intervals.

  • Start timing them and see how close together they are. Definitely sounds like it could be contractions! Congrats!

  • Start timing them!
Doctors usually suggest if the contractions are 7 to 5 minutes apart, to head on to the Hospital.
