Why were they working on a swine flu vacine for Humans in 1967?

Just heard on the news how kids vacinated back then some were actually paralized from the vacine. But my real question is, it didn't jump to humans and become a big deal to us until last year. Why were they working on a vacine so long ago?

  • Actually, there was a swine flu "outbreak" back in 1976. It was just a different strain, but the media hype back then was just like it is now.

  • ....and a lot of people were either damaged or died from that vaccine all those years ago. History repeats itself. Open your eyes.

Care to share your source for this information? And I'd prefer a reliable one, not vaccinesareevil.com.

  • That was then, this is now. Two different times, two different scientific communities, plenty of advancements in the field.

It existed, so they worked on a vaccine for it. So?

There were outbreaks before, but not as severe as now.

Someone needs a more reliable news source.

  • "Someone needs a more reliable news source."

I doubt they even had a source to begin with. They probably heard about it from a friend who knew someone who knew someone else who had lunch with someone who dated someone who died from it.
