  • It shouldn't have an odor and it's possible that you HAVE lost your mucus plug and just didn't know it. I've had 3 babies and never noticeably lost my plug.

  • Definately go to the hospital if you think you are leaking.. Don't worry my water leaked on new years day with my 8 year old and my newest was born on mine an hubbys wedding anniversary! If you are leaking fluid they might induce you in order to prevent infection.. Not sure how far along you are but congrats on baby if you delive make sure to keep posted!

  • When my water broke with my second baby I was 37 weeks and I had already been put on bed rest to prevent labor, so they went ahead and took the baby. When my water broke with my last I was 30 weeks. They kept me on bedrest in the hospital for 2 weeks until they couldn't stop labor.

  • You don't have to lose the plug first (externally, anyway).
And you don't *have* to go in just because you're leaking.
You can follow some simple rules and stay home until you begin contracting. And then wait until it's later in Active Labor.
    :-)

Some women have contractions first, then water breaks. Or it never breaks.
Some women have their water break first~ like you might. And me...

Is your baby low and head-down?

    You can:
Watch to see the color & odor.
How long it takes to fill a maxi pad
Lie down for a few minutes, get up to see if it gushes.
Take your temperature every few hours to watch for an infection.
Put NOTHING inside the vagina (no intercourse, tampons, or cervix checks!)
Drink a LOT of water, stay hydrated.
    Increase Vitamin-C and Echinecea.
