How often does your baby nurses and for how long at each sessions?

My 9 months old still nurses 6 times a day, but will only drink a little at a time. I'm wondering if he's drinking enough.

  • Could be a growth spurt...mine had several periods of time where he would eat alot off me...He may be a good nurser so he doesn't have to stay on so long

  • I'm not sure... my 5 month old nurses on demand. It has decreased a lot though compared to what it was the first few months. Maybe like 6-12 times a day instead of 10-16 times a day? I'm not sure.

  • Wow 6 times is nothing! Im' sure he's getting enough. Is he eating solids? Are you nursing before solids? He's still under 1 year so he needs BM before solids. They go through spurts of nursing.

  • My 3 month old has always nursed for short amounts of time, but many times per day... every baby is different. If your baby is growing and gaining normally there's nothing to worry about. Your body will make more milk if she needs it.
