My 3 yr old has finally decided he can climb out of his crib...a bit late I know..I am blessed. Anyway, the day has finally come, so we will be putting him in a "big boy bed" But this child is now up and down all night. At first it was riding his bike in the kitchen at 3 a.m. So we put a gate at the top of the stairs. So then he decided since he can't go down and play, he will trash his room. What's a mother to do?

  • it will get better with some time
you could empty his room of things that he wants to trash
but that may leave him with nothing but a bed and pillow-lol
mine excaped from crib a few weeks ago, she is a bit over two.
at first it was like having an infany again when it came to the amount of sleep i was getting because she was up many times through the night, but she got better and now she does sleep through the night( i am worried about even typing that, do not want to jinx it) she still gets out of bed at night, but just when we put her down and after a couple of times of going up to put her back in she does sleep thru night, naps are still a battle, but even with naps there is improvement

be patient and keep a routine, do NOT give in to anything he trys, this is all new to him, so he will explore and test boundaries, be firm but show no emotion when you have to go back to put him back in bed

    he will in time
