in the state of texas, do you have to have a full time job to apply for Child Care Assistance??

i was laid off 2 months ago and FINALLY found a part time job, and now i just need to find another part time job but i wanted to go ahead and apply for CCS to go ahead and get it started and i wasn't sure if i even qualified for it yet..

  • In the state of Texas it depends on your economic state and how many are in your household. If you are the only person working (and it's only part time) and you are caring for a child - chances are pretty good that you will qualify. You will be required to see a CHOICES case manager who will monitor your job search. The goal is to get you working and get you off the system as fast as possible (because you only have 5 years worth of assistance in a lifetime - the more you use now, the less you'll have for later). If I were you, I'd go ahead and apply. You need the help and Choices can help with childcare, transportation and even work clothes if you need it.
