The little boy I watch every day called me momma and my SO daddy......

I watch a little boy every week day from 6-3 (hes napping now) and he called my SO daddy today and he dosnt have a father figure in his life so its kinda understandable but sometimes he calls me momma. do I tell his mom? How do I get him to stop calling us that? hes 16 months old.

  • He's little i don't think that he understands. I wouldn't worry too much about it or go telling his mom. I'm sure that will just make her feel bad and since you said he doesn't have a dad i'm sure that she has to work. Just be glad that he's happy and comfortable at your house.

  • It is very common in children that young to call all women momma. My neice called my sister, my mother, and myself momma until she was about 2 1/2 when she finally learned a difference between momma and grandma.

  • My 2 year old son calls all women Mama, all Men Dada, and all other children BayBay (which is his sister). I think it's normal. I've known other children to do this.

  • Ditto above, my 2.5 YO calls most women "mommy", men are "daddy" and little girl's are "bobby" (what he calls his sister) and little boys are "me" lol....
