pear cobbler?

my neighbor gave me a huge bag of pears from his trees! they arent as sweet as store bought, but I would still love to use them in something. I was thinking some type of dessert. would they do well in a cobbler? anyone have pear cobbler before? any suggestions? thanks!

  • I have made this with pears (and peaches and blueberries)
    Apple Crisp

4 cups peeled and sliced apples
    1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup whole wheat pastry flour
    1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup sucanat, or other sugar
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    1/3 cup butter, melted

Place apples in shallow baking dish; sprinkle with lemon juice. Combine dry ingredients, add melted butter, mixing until crumbly. Spoon over apples. Bakeat 375 degrees for about 30 minutes or until lightly browned and apples are done

  • When I've made pear cobbler, there was too much extra liquid, so next time, I plan to make twice as much of the crumbly topping and put a layer on the bottom of the pan too. What I made was yummy & sweet, but just too runny.
FYI, you can make applesauce cake with pears if you just mash or blend them up so they are like applesauce. I also made pear-zucchini bread the other day too, good stuff :P
