When is a good time to start looking at buying a house?

We are planning to buy a house, but the lease here isnt up until Feb, and we plan to stay here month to month until the school year is out, so DD doesn't have to transfer schools again right away (she is just starting at this school tomarrow). Is it too early to start looking at houses? I'm worried that we will find the "perfect'' place, but lose it b/c we are waiting...

  • It does not take more than 30 days to buy a home.Get a real estate agent ,tell him or her where you want to live.Have him pull out a list of forcloused homes. You can buy a fixer upper home. The best time to buy is now because the houses are cheap. It does not take months to buy a home.My broker took us twice to go look at homes. He knew what we wanted to spend. He knew our budget we looked at 40 homes and he we only went twice. We put an offer in and we got it.We beat out the other buyers. It is very easy not hard.If you have good credit it is easier.

  • Start going to open houses now get a feel for the housing market in your area and what you like and don't like.

  • i would start looking at schools and neighborhoods, drive around desirable neighborhoods when it rains hard to see if there is any flooding or standing water, observe people in the neighborhoods for things like noise or stray animals, watch the sales of homes to see what the listing prices are in comparison to what they actually sell for, check with the extension offices for flood zones

  • It takes a couple of months to go through the buying process, and usually a couple months to find a house. I would start looking soon.

  • I forgot is you go to prudential ,yahoo homes you can look at the homes and even on the inside. If you like the homes you just email the MLS number over to the broker/agent.They will do the rest.
