  • I'm not sure what the above anon's point is. She's just looking for something controversial to say and ended up saying something idiotic.

It looks like this product was manufactured in another country. While the first image is traditionally a racist one here in the US, who ever put it on a can where ever this product came from may not be privy to that. I wouldn't know what to say or not to say to a person from Kosovo vs a person from Mascedonia. I think this is just an unfortunate choice made by someone who is not familiar with our cultural history.

  • It doesn't pay to be racist if they are actually trying to sell the may have been a misguided attempt at including everyone. I would have to know more.....

  • One problem here - that's Cuban soda. It's made by a company called Cawa that moved to Miami after Cuba went to hell. Meaning probably not intended to be a stereotypical American black girl, but a regular Cuban girl. Are other races not allowed to put pictures of themselves on products just because they're darker than white and might be confused with black people?

  • Why would it be racist? It has a white kid on the can eating watermelon too. Are black kids not allowed to enjoy watermelon? Should white people be offended by the depiction of the white boy? This kind of crap is just ridiculous, it really is.

  • Well if the soda is sold like in Brazil, then it is probably not intended to be racist since A LOT of Brazilians are dark skinned.

  • No I don't find it racist.

  • It's not American! We aren't the intended consumers. It has no undertones at all. Stop digging for what isn't there.
