Do you depend on child support money to pay for your rent and bills?

Just wondering.

  • My CS goes into our general account..from there a certain portion is sent to college fund accounts and the rest is just used in general with the rest of my money.

  • When DH and I filed for divorce (obviously didn't get one) I budgeted my bills without the money for support. I had no intention of relying on it as there is always the chance that I wouldn't get it and then i'd be screwed.

  • If I did, we'd be homeless. My ex is very sporadic about his child support payments. I can not count on them as a part of my household budget. When they do come in, I use them for the extras I cannot usually afford for my son.

  • I'm with riotgrrl, if I did we'd be homeless and starving.
I use my son's child support as "back up" kinda. Since I know it could really stop at any moment I try not to make a big deal about it.

  • Nope. I don't get CS from my XH.

    In 2008, I got a grand total of $210.

    Nothing yet this year.

  • not a problem with me but my kids are grown. Tath is part of supporting a child. it is not just for buying them toys, games and other cool stuff
