  • The money will come from the money currently going to private insurers. Just like the money going to Halliburton would have gone to the US military.

  • We cant afford UHC ..where is the money going to come from? Just how many more illegals will pour over into the country to take advantage with the rest of them? Remember years ago Kennedy said ohhh lets let them come it will only be this amount and now look..there are so many reasons why UHC is a horrible idea for America.

Lets start at my first Q though how would it be paid for?

  • No, we can't. For the 1.5 million that will lose their homes this year due to health care costs (with 75% of them HAVING insurance)
and the 1.5 million last year, and the 1.5 million next year..

and to all the people that can afford it, your costs are STILL RISING EVERY YEAR and your losing coverage.....So mad about Cap and Trade raising your energy bills but totally OK with the health insurance companies raising their costs EVERY YEAR and a WAY FATSER than inflation rate...

Here is a thought, let's stick with the topic.

The money will come from the money currently going to private insurers.
How do you know this since no one has been able to realistically say where it is coming from for sure.

  • While I agree that this is a huge problem, and that we need to begin instituting the parts of the bill that are agreed upon across the board (examining Insurance Company practices, more charitable health care access for children) we shouldn't jump on the band wagon and force the whole thing through. We need to look at Health Care as a business and implement smart fixes at first, and slowly incorporate large changes as we have concrete details and facts and extremely predictable outcomes.

But doing nothing, Or forcing it through will do untold amounts of damage.

  • If people can't afford health insurance now, and the government offers health insurance at a lower cost, what makes one think they will be able to afford it, just because the government is running it? And how do you know the government won't raise the cost, just like it raises taxes? And if you don't get health insurance cause you really can't afford it even from the government, your going to get fined.

    Am I understanding this correctly?

  • yes anon and it is highly likely that ALOT of employers will just drop their employees from the insurance dumping them onto the public option..and just pay the fine which will be cheaper for them.
